SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - The FBI says it’s working with police to investigate the theft of an agent’s gun and badge from his car in San Francisco.

The agency said in a statement Tuesday that it was aware of the theft report. It declined additional comment.

San Francisco Officer Carlos Manfredi says the FBI agent reported that his vehicle was broken into Sunday afternoon in the city’s popular Alamo Square.

Manfredi says the agent’s .40-caliber Glock handgun was stolen, along with his ID badge and credentials.

The theft follows a series of break-ins and burglaries where guns have been stolen and used in homicides in the San Francisco Bay Area.
