BALTIMORE (AP) - A 9-year-old girl was in critical condition after nearly drowning in a northeast Baltimore creek.

Witnesses say the girl was walking across a pipe on Sunday afternoon at Herring Run Park when she slipped and fell into the water. The current pushed her into a deep part of Herring Run Creek.

The girl was pulled from the creek, and responders initially pronounced her dead at the scene. But officials later confirmed she had a pulse.

No other information was immediately available.
