MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. (AP) - Authorities say a woman was struck and killed by gunfire that hit a residence, missing two children also inside the home in central Georgia.

Baldwin County sheriff’s officials say the shooting happened around 10:30 p.m. Monday in the county northeast of Macon.

Baldwin County sheriff’s Capt. Brad King identified the woman killed as Tonya Massey. He said the shots were fired from an adjacent roadway.

The Telegraph reports (bit.ly/1WuKP0X) that Massey was taken to Oconee Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is assisting Baldwin County deputies in the case.
