BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) - A 27-year-old man charged with stabbing a Lame Deer man to death has pleaded not guilty to deliberate homicide during a hearing in Northern Cheyenne Tribal Court.

The Billings Gazette reports Tyson Lonebear entered his plea on May 25 in the May 18 death of 21-year-old Chay Little.

The Big Horn County News reports the application for Lonebear’s arrest warrant said Little had an altercation with a female early on May 18 in Lame Deer and that she required medical treatment. The warrant said Little walked to another residence, where he later hit or tried to hit Lonebear. Court records say Lonebear responded by stabbing Little in the chest, puncturing his aorta.

Lonebear was arrested in Hardin on the $1 million warrant. He is being held in the tribal jail with bail set at $5,000.
