NEW YORK (AP) - Police say a New York City woman hit by a car while she was crossing a road over the weekend has died at a hospital.

The NYPD says Maria Serrano was walking her dog in a crosswalk Saturday morning in the Staten Island neighborhood of New Dorp when she was hit by a car turning left.

Police say the 50-year-old Egbertville woman died at a hospital on Monday.

Police have charged driver the man driving the car with not yielding to a pedestrian and not exercising due care in the incident.
