ROTTERDAM, N.Y. (AP) - Police in an Albany-area town have identified a pedestrian fatally struck in a hit-and-run accident over the weekend.

Officers in the Schenectady (skeh-NEHK’-ta-dee) town of Rotterdam say they responded late Saturday to a report of a collision involving a vehicle and a person crossing an intersection.

Police say 47-year-old Inshan Ali of Schenectady was struck by a sport utility vehicle that didn’t stop. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lt. Michael Brown says police are trying to identify the sport utility vehicle and driver that hit him.

Police say the SUV sustained major front end damage to the passenger side, along with a broken windshield.
