SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - Police have arrested a 17-year-old boy they say shot a teenage girl in Sacramento.

The Sacramento Bee reports (https://bit.ly/1TOKqWM ) the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department says 15-year-old Macy Murphy was found dead inside a car Sunday.

Sheriff’s officials say homicide detectives arrested the teenage boy Monday and booked him into a juvenile hall. His name has not been released because he is a minor.

Murphy’s grandmother, Debbie Pacli, says neither she nor the girl’s mother knows anything about the circumstances of Murphy’s death or the boy who was arrested.

Police found Murphy’s body in a residential area near Illa Collin Park. Pacli says the girl lived in a different part of Sacramento.
