NORCO, La. (AP) - Railroad work crews have found a body in Lake Pontchartrain, just west of the entrance canal to the lower section of the Bonnet Carre Spillway.

The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office says crews with the Canadian National Railroad notified deputies about 7 a.m. Wednesday. Once on the scene, sheriff’s detectives found a woman’s body in an advanced decomposed state.

Authorities say the woman was wearing a red and white plaid, button-down shirt, a white under shirt and a blue sports bra.

This incident is still under investigation.

Anyone with any information on the woman’s identity is asked to contact authorities at 985-783-1135 or 985-783-6807.

This story has been corrected to fix the name of the railroad company to Canadian National Railroad.
