TOWN OF MAPLE GROVE, Wis. (AP) - Federal aviation officials say a pilot has died in the crash of a helicopter in Manitowoc County.

The Federal Aviation Administration says the MD-369E chopper crashed near Reedsville Wednesday morning. The Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Department says the pilot was the only one on board and was helping install transmission lines. The crash occurred in a remote, swampy area in the Town of Maple Grove.

American Transmission Company says the helicopter, owned by Rotor Blade, was stringing wire along one of its lines between the Point Beach Nuclear Plant and the Forest Junction substation. ATC says Rotor Blade is a subcontractor for Henkels & McCoy.
