GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK, Ariz. (AP) - A prescribed burn that had been planned near the historic district of Grand Canyon Village has been postponed due to high winds.

The burn had been scheduled for Thursday as part of an annual readiness review for the park and its wildland fire crews.

Park officials had said the now-postponed burn planned for 40 acres east of the historic district and south of South Entrance Road would have resulted in temporary road closures and detours.

Those closures and detours no longer will be in effect.
