SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - Authorities have identified the man they believe drowned at Palouse Falls on Sunday.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office says 22-year-old James A. Hopkins of Lake Stevens and two others were swimming near the base of the falls Sunday evening when they started having trouble.

The Spokesman-Review reports (https://goo.gl/I7aYLG) bystanders rescued two people in the group but emergency responders couldn’t find Hopkins.

A dive team was searching for his body but the search has been suspended due to dangerous water below the falls.
