BOSTON (AP) - A Boston museum has purchased a book that belonged to diarist Anne Frank and her older sister.

The Museum of World War II says it purchased the volume of Grimm’s Fairy Tales at Swann Auction Galleries for $50,000.

The German book “Aus Grimms Maerchen” is signed “Anne Frank en (and) Margot Frank” on the title page and is accompanied by a 1977 letter from their father, Otto Frank, detailing its history.

Both Anne and Margot Frank died in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp.

The museum says this was the first major offering of Anne Frank material at auction in over two decades.

Officials say the book and other items purchased will become a centerpiece of its extensive collection of World War II artifacts and a focus of educational programs.
