BOTHELL, Wash. (AP) - The Bothell City Council has voted to terminate City Manager Bob Stowe, but not all council members were on board with the decision.

The Daily Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1WKa9yp ) that Mayor Andy Rheaume says the council’s decision Tuesday to dismiss Stowe was based on the desire for a change in leadership and direction for the city.

Councilman Joshua Freed, one of two members to vote against the motion to fire Stowe, says the decision should have been open to public comment. He also questioned the timing of the vote due to Stowe’s absence.

Stowe had been on vacation, but Rheaume says he was notified that he could be terminated during the meeting.

Assistant City Manager Peter Troedsson will take over for Stowe until the city finds a replacement.
