NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a middle school student in suburban New York is accused of stabbing a 14-year-old boy near their school.

The Journal News reports that school officials reported that the incident occurred during an altercation between the two eighth-graders Wednesday morning - a block from Isaac Young Middle School in New Rochelle.

Police say the boy’s injuries were not life-threatening. They charged him as a juvenile delinquent with second-degree assault.

School officials say the boys had attended “an open morning program at the school but left the building before the official school day began.”

Police say the weapon has not been recovered.
