SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A 5-year-old boy who was lost near a Utah lake has been found unharmed hours after wandering away from a family fishing trip Wednesday night.

Utah State Parks lieutenant Eric Stucki says the young boy was playing with a few cousins near Willard Bay State Park when he wandered off at about 9 p.m.

Officials discovered him wet and cold, but otherwise unscathed, four hours later. The Salt Lake County boy had wandered more than one mile from his family.

Stucki says these types of successes are rare, and was likely thanks to the night’s warm weather and search efforts by a variety of agencies, including the Box Elder County Sheriff’s Office and Willard City Police Department.

Stucki says he doesn’t know the parent’s names and he wasn’t allowed to release the boy’s name.
