BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - North Dakota fisheries personnel recently stocked more than 40 ponds and lakes with catchable with catchable trout, catfish and pike.

Jerry Weigel with the state Game and Fish Department says about 23,000 rainbow trout, 800 adult catfish, 750 pike and 600 cutthroat trout were recently stocked in rural and city ponds and lakes.

Weigel says the state’s fisheries are at historic highs, but many are not as easily accessible to children, older adults and disabled anglers.

He says the stockings are “a great opportunity for a first-time angler to catch fish.”
