JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The Harrison County Coroner says the 10-month-old infant found dead in D’Iberville died of natural causes.

Coroner Gary Hargrove says an autopsy showed no signs of trauma.

On Wednesday, Police Chief Wayne Payne said officers responded to a 4:11 a.m. emergency medical call at Landmark Apartments. Officers found the child dead on the floor of an apartment where he lived with his father and grandparents.

The grandfather told officers the child’s father woke him up saying something was wrong with the baby. He dialed 911 when he found the baby unresponsive. As the family waited for emergency responders, the father ran hysterically out of the house.

Officers later found the father hanging from the stairwell of an adjacent building.

Hargrove said Thursday the father’s death has been ruled a suicide.
