SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A former University of Utah student has filed a federal complaint after she says school officials dragged their feet on her sexual assault report until both she and the accused had graduated.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1UCsLQM) that she filed a federal complaint against her school Wednesday because she says it took about a year to finish its investigation.

She says the university determined the student had sexually assaulted her.

The University’s dean of students says the school will review its procedure for investigating sexual assaults.

Not every Title IX complaint results in an investigation. The Office for Civil Rights says there are currently about 180 colleges and universities with pending Title IX sexual violence investigations.

Another Utah institution, Brigham Young University may face its own investigation after a student recently filed a Title IX complaint.
