COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Lt. Gov. Henry McMaster is holding a news conference to kick off Senior Citizen Day at the Statehouse. The event is part of a celebration of Older Americans Month.

Organizers and representatives from the Lieutenant Governor’s Office on Aging say more than 600 South Carolina citizens are expected to visit the Statehouse on Thursday and participate in activities including an informational fair and a tour of public transit options provided by the South Carolina Alliance for Mobile Infrastructure.

A tent on the Statehouse grounds also features guest speakers and entertainment. Walgreens is providing free health screenings.
