MILTON, Tenn. (AP) - Authorities say a 64-year-old Rutherford County man died after a tree fell on him while he was riding an all-terrain vehicle during a thunderstorm.

Rutherford County Fire Chief Larry Farley tells media outlets that the man had just finished cutting his yard when a large hickory tree fell on top of him Wednesday evening.

Officials say there was hail on the ground when they arrived at the scene and winds had reached about 70 mph during the storm.

Authorities have not released the man’s identity.
