NEW YORK (AP) - Prosecutors say a man has admitted he raped and strangled a 15-year-old Bronx girl and will be sentenced later this month to serve 25 years in prison.
The Bronx District Attorney’s office says Luis Vega pleaded guilty Wednesday to manslaughter and criminal sexual act charges in the November 2012 death of Destiny Sanchez.
Authorities say Sanchez went to a Bronx apartment building with Vega, where he gave her alcohol. She was found the next morning in the lobby with her clothes askew and her body covered in bleach.
Prosecutors say DNA evidence connected Vega to her slaying.
Prosecutors say Vega will be sentenced to a decade of supervised release and must register as a sex offender.
Vega’s lawyer couldn’t be reached for comment.
