RIVERTON, Wyo. (AP) - The Eastern Shoshone Business Council has purchased a 302-acre plot of Wyoming Honor Farm land in Riverton.

The Ranger reports (https://bit.ly/1rwyUTk ) that the tribal business council purchased the land last month for $1.7 million. They hired an Idaho developer as an agent to help with the deal.

Tribal business council chairman Darwin St. Clair says the tribe has been eyeing the farmland for more than a year and that they hope to develop the plot for commercial, residential and public uses.

The tribe says it has no interest in developing the property as a casino.
