SKOWHEGAN, Maine (AP) - A 24-year-old St. Albans man has denied accusations that he fatally shot his uncle in the head following an afternoon of drinking last month.

The Morning Sentinel reports (https://bit.ly/1YadHsz ) Jeremy Erving pleaded not guilty Wednesday in Somerset County Superior Court to a murder charge connected to 53-year-old Randy Erving’s early April death.

Police say Erving admitted to his girlfriend and her father that he killed his uncle after they bailed him out of jail following Erving’s drunken driving arrest on April 8.

Randy Erving’s body was found at his McNally Road home, where police say he and his nephew were drinking earlier in the day on April 7.

Erving reportedly told police that he didn’t remember anything other than “a bang and a barrel” before he was arrested for OUI.
