LAS VEGAS (AP) - Authorities say they’ve cleared a suspicious item found in a vehicle at the Las Vegas police headquarters, which prompted the station to be evacuated.

The incident began around 5 a.m. Thursday when a person was taken into custody after unloading items from the car at the building at Martin Luther King Boulevard and Alta Drive.

Police initially believed that the item in the vehicle appeared suspicious, calling for a bomb unit that closed down the major road and prompted the building evacuation.

The item was determined to be safe by about 9 a.m.

All police and road operations have returned to normal.

Police say the closures were a precaution.
