JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - A carjacker shot a woman in the hand and stole her car Friday morning.

Local media report the attack happened just after the woman dropped her daughter off at Davis Magnet School near downtown.

Jackson Police Spokeswoman Ofc. Colendula (kuh-LEN-doo-luh) Green says the incident occurred on the same block of Congress Street but not on school grounds.

School officials say it was an isolated incident and not a threat to the school.

Green says the carjacker wore black clothing and shot the 37-year-old woman before driving off with her black 2012 Infiniti M37. She says the woman’s injuries aren’t life-threatening.

WAPT-TV reports the Infiniti has been recovered and that three people are being held for questioning over the incident and a separate Thursday night carjacking in north Jackson.
