CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) - Clemson University has received an $11 million grant that will allow scientists to conduct research on organisms that cause infectious diseases including amoebic dysentery, African sleeping sickness and fungal meningitis.

The university said in a release this week that the grant from the National Institutes of Health will provide funds for five faculty members, four research technicians, 11 graduate students and administrative personnel.

Some of the money will be used to set up a network of external mentors to help other scientists.
