NEW YORK (AP) - Police have arrested a New York man on murder and manslaughter charges after his aunt disappeared from her New York City apartment more than a week ago.

The New York Police Department said 37-year-old Andros Topping was arrested Friday following an investigation into the disappearance of 69-year-old Patricia Meyers.

The retired nurse had been last seen on April 27 at her apartment in the Bronx. Topping, her nephew, had been staying with her.

Police said blood had been found in the apartment.

They say that although Meyers’ body hasn’t been found, they have enough evidence to charge Topping with her death.

Topping was being held in police custody Friday night. It wasn’t immediately clear if he had an attorney who could comment on his behalf.
