MOULTON, Ala. (AP) - A domestic violence case against an Alabama state trooper has been dismissed in Lawrence County.

The Decatur Daily reports (https://bit.ly/1TvEPOQ ) a misdemeanor domestic violence charge against 30-year-old Trooper Jonathan Ryan was dropped in court Thursday after his wife signed a motion saying she no longer wanted to pursue the charge.

Ryan was charged Jan. 7 after deputies responded to his residence. He is accused of beating on windows of his wife’s vehicle with a police baton and threatening to kill her.

Lawrence County Sheriff Gene Mitchell at the time said Ryan, who was off duty, had been drinking.

Court records show Ryan agreed to pay $471.50 in fines, though he won’t serve any jail or probation time.

Ryan, a trooper assigned to Morgan County, declined to comment to the newspaper.
