ATALISSA, Iowa (AP) - A man driving a piece of farm equipment has been hospitalized after it was struck by a train in eastern Iowa.

The accident occurred around 7:20 p.m. Thursday near Atalissa. The Muscatine County Sheriff’s Office says 40-year-old Matthew Carlson, of Muscatine, was injured when the fertilizer sprayer he was operating crossed a track and was struck by the locomotive.

He was flown to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

The accident is being investigated.
