McALESTER, Okla. (AP) - The wife of an eastern Oklahoma police chief has pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor drug charge after a felony count against her was dropped.

Heather Brillo, the wife of Hartshorne Police Chief Josh Brillo, had been charged with maintaining a place for controlled dangerous substances. The McAlester News-Capital reported Friday (https://bit.ly/1SRY60A ) that she pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana and was given a two-year deferred sentence.

Josh and Heather Brillo were arrested and charged in January with felonies after investigators said they found marijuana in their home.

Josh Brillo pleaded not guilty and the charge against him was dismissed in April by a special prosecutor who wrote in court documents that it was “in the interest of justice” to drop the case against him.
