NEWTON, Iowa (AP) - A man convicted of helping his mother stab his wife to death in Tama has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier (https://bit.ly/1WMgcT4 ) reports that 40-year-old Dustin Jefferson was sentenced Thursday. He had been found guilty in February of aiding and abetting first-degree murder in the death of 32-year-old Kerry O’Clair Jefferson.

Prosecutors said that Jefferson helped his mother, Ginger Jefferson, kill his wife in September 2013.

Ginger Jefferson is serving life in prison for first-degree murder in the death.
