BLAINE, Minn. (AP) - A 27-year-old man has been charged with criminal vehicular homicide after authorities say he sped through a Twin Cities suburb and hit and killed a man who was standing by a roadside mailbox.

According to the criminal complaint, Adam Joseph Rodman fled from the scene after Thursday night’s crash in Blaine. The charges say he had been speeding when he hit another vehicle, left the roadway, then hit the 39-year-old victim.

Rodman was later arrested. Authorities say he appeared intoxicated.

He made his first court appearance Friday and bail was set at $300,000. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney who could comment on his behalf.
