ONLEY, Va. (AP) - An Onley volunteer firefighter has been charged with setting fire to a tractor trailer.

Media outlets report 20-year-old Brandon Travis Haynes was arrested Wednesday. He is charged with the Feb. 2 arson of a 1993 Freightliner tractor-trailer belonging to Antonio Logan.

Police say Haynes admitted to investigators that he set the fire because he was bored. Haynes, who is a member of Onley Volunteer Fire and Rescue, was released on personal recognizance.

Onley Fire Chief Chris Davis says more arrests could be made after they noticed the fire company had responded to an unusually high number of fire-related incidents during the winter of 2015-16.

Davis says the Virginia State Police was notified and requested to investigate each fire that appeared suspicious.

It’s unclear whether Haynes has an attorney.
