BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - A man accused of killing another man on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation and hiding the body in the trunk of a car while he recruited others to help dispose of it has pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter.

KFYR-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1Tsyd3v ) that 32-year-old Marcel Louis Chase changed his plea Friday in U.S. District Court in Bismarck.

Chase had been facing a second-degree murder charge that carries a potential life prison term. The reduced charge carries a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.

Authorities allege that Chase killed Toby Young Bear during a drug-fueled fight in Mandaree in December 2014.

Chase told the judge during the hearing that Young Bear injected him with an unknown substance and wasn’t in the right state of mind.

Sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 22.
