COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) - The president of Texas A&M; International University in Laredo has been named interim president of Texas A&M; University in Commerce.

Ray Keck takes over at A&M-Commerce; following the April 29 death of Dan Jones.

System Chancellor John Sharp on Friday announced the appointment. Jones formerly was provost at Texas A&M; International and worked with Keck, who’s been president since 2001. Jones led A&M-Commerce; since 2008.

Sharp says a search committee will be appointed to permanently fill the job of president at A&M-Commerce.;

Commerce is 60 miles northeast of Dallas.
