CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - A James Island man wanted in the death of a patron at a Charleston nightclub has turned himself in to police.

Deputy Charleston County Coroner Brittney Martin tells local media outlets that 56-year-old David Lacz of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, died early Wednesday morning at the Medical University of South Carolina Hospital of head injuries.

A police report says Lacz was being escorted from Stilettos Gentlemen’s Club by 33-year-old Alfred Joseph Asher Jr. when Lacz rushed Asher, who pushed Lacz away to defend himself. The report says that Lacz fell and hit his head on concrete pavement.

Police spokesman Charles Francis says Asher is charged with manslaughter and he turned himself in around 10 a.m. Friday.

It wasn’t known if he had a lawyer.
