HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (AP) - Officials say two women are recovering after two large dogs attacked them and killed one woman’s smaller dog in South Florida.

The South Florida Sun Sentinel (https://goo.gl/oX8bgI) reports that the attack occurred early Friday morning.

Hollywood police say a woman was walking her small terrier, Roxie, at the Sunny Palm RV Park when she stopped to talk to a friend. That’s when officials say two dogs described by their owner as American Bulldogs escaped from an RV and attacked the little dog and its owner. A neighbor tried to assist and was also attacked. Both women were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, and the smaller dog was dead.

Broward County Animal Care reports that the attacking dogs were taken into custody. Their owner was issued six citations and fined $3,075.
