CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Police in Charlotte are investigating two killings that happened within 7 miles and a few hours of each other.

Authorities say 19-year-old Skyler Riker died in a stabbing early Saturday morning that Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said followed a fight between Riker and someone who knew him.

Investigators are looking into the death, and no arrests have been made.

About three hours later, officers checking on a call about gunshots found 28-year-old Nmateen Doe shot to death in a yard by a vehicle. Investigators have not made any arrests in the case.

Police haven’t given any indication the homicides are linked.
