GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) - The Greensboro City Council will consider whether to publicly release body camera footage of the police shooting of a 47-year-old woman with a knife two years ago.

The lawyer for the family of Chieu Vo told the News & Record of Greensboro (https://bit.ly/1VNTYkQ ) they want the footage released because it shows Vo wasn’t a threat to the officer’s life when he fired.

The city has refused to release the March 2014 video to the public, saying it is part of officer Tim Bloch’s personnel file.

Bloch says the Vo family lawyer is exaggerating and the woman was charging at him with a meat cleaver after ignoring demands to drop the knife several times. Bloch had been called to break up a fight.

The City Council will consider the request Monday.
