NEWTON, N.C. (AP) - A jury has found a man guilty of first-degree murder for killing three people he had smoked crack around during a Catawba County robbery five years ago.

The Hickory Daily Record (https://bit.ly/1Tuyfb4) reports the sentencing phase of 37-year-old Everette Hewitt’s trial will begin next week after he was found guilty Friday. A jury deliberated for two days.

Authorities say Hewitt came back to a home in March 2011 after smoking crack to rob a man and take his ATM card.

Prosecutors say Hewitt stole Harold Propst’s gun, then shot Propst, 50-year-old Wade Sigmon, 42-year-old Susan Kay Blevins, and 51-year-old Connie Mille.

Propst was the only survivor and testified against Hewitt.
