THORNTON, N.H. (AP) - New Hampshire Fish and Game officials say they rescued an injured hiker in Thornton Friday night.

Authorities say 23-year-old Gregory Kieffer of Bedford, New Hampshire, was hiking the Welch-Dickey Loop in Thornton and Waterville Valley when he fell and suffered a leg injury. He attempted to continue the hike, but was too hurt to do so. Another hiker who came upon Kieffer called 911 to request help.

Rescuers reached the injured hiker at about 7 p.m. Friday and got him back to the trailhead more than two hours later.

Kieffer was taken to Spear Memorial Hospital in Plymouth for treatment.
