VESTAVIA HILLS, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say three teenagers have been charged after a chase and crash in central Alabama.

Al.com (https://bit.ly/23xJLIz ) reports that 18-year-old Terrell Dontaze Banks and two other juveniles were charged Friday. The chase began Thursday afternoon in Vestavia Hills when an officer tried to stop the vehicle carrying the suspect for a traffic violation.

Vestavia Hills police Capt. Kevin York says the vehicle sped off while the officer learned the vehicle was stolen. The chase eventually ensued into Ensley, where the vehicle crashed.

York says five people fled from the crashed vehicle. Officers only captured three.

Banks is charged with receiving stolen property, attempting to elude causing injury and third-degree assault. The two other juveniles are charged with third-degree receiving stolen property and attempting to elude.
