BEATRICE, Neb. (AP) - Members of an Alaskan homesteading family seen on a reality TV show are scheduled for appearances next month at the Homestead National Monument in southeast Nebraska.

The Kilcher family is the core of “Alaska: The Last Frontier” on the Discovery Channel. Yule Kilcher left his native Switzerland in 1936 and he and his wife, Ruth, eventually founded a homestead on rural land 11 miles northeast of Homer. The show follows the family members’ triumphs and heartaches as they struggle with the landscape, wildlife and weather.

Yule’s son Otto and Otto’s wife, Charlotte, will be among the family members appearing at 1 p.m. June 18 and 19 at the Homestead monument, which sits four miles west of Beatrice, along Nebraska Highway 4.

They’ll tell stories and answer questions about their lives.
