YOUNGWOOD, Pa. (AP) - Authorities in western Pennsylvania say a collision between a pickup truck and a car sent five people, including two children, to hospitals in critical condition.

Police in Westmoreland County said the crash occurred on Route 119 in Youngwood at about 10:20 a.m. Sunday.

Officials said the northbound car was carrying a family of four when it collided with the truck at the intersection with East Hillis Street.

Medical helicopters flew the two adults and two children in the car and the pickup driver to hospitals.

Emergency dispatchers said the two children were taken to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.

State police said the cause of the crash is under investigation.
