CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) - Chattanooga police say a restaurant employee has been shot to death during a scuffle outside the building.

Chattanooga police tell media outlets that officers who were called to break up a fight at the Bella Vita Restaurant in Chattanooga around 2 a.m. Sunday found 40-year-old Johnny Sanders with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Police said in a statement that 31-year-old Andrew Wilson was charged with criminal homicide and unlawful possession of a firearm. Wilson had been removed from the restaurant by security, and the shooting took place outside the business.

Wilson was taken to the Hamilton County Jail. It wasn’t immediately known whether Wilson has an attorney.

A call to the restaurant went unanswered Sunday.
