INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Indianapolis police are investigating as a homicide the death of an 18-year-old man whose body was found on the banks of the White River.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Sgt. Kendale Adams tells The Indianapolis Star (indy.st/1QVEkff ) that a group of fishermen found the victim’s body Friday.

Police identified him as Shane Watford and said he had been shot at least once before his body was brought to the river.

Adams said detectives don’t believe the shooting is connected to other recent deaths, including one in which a torso was found floating in the same river in April.
