SHIRLEY, N.Y. (AP) - Suffolk County police say a Farmingville man was driving while intoxicated when he crashed into two police cars. One officer was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and a passenger in the man’s car suffered serious injuries.

Authorities say two officers had parked their cars in the left lane of the southbound William Floyd Parkway in Shirley around 3:30 a.m. Sunday to help a disabled motorist.

The 22-year-old driver of another car hit both police vehicles. He was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated.
