MINOT, N.D. (AP) - The State Fair Center in Minot is branching out to other events.

North Dakota State Fair manager Renae Korslein tells KXMC (https://bit.ly/1NTDZPA ) that the State Fair Center has seen an increase in the types of events it can host, thanks to $5 million in updates and renovations over the past five years.

The fairgrounds in 2016 are booked for more than 2,000 contracted days, which is about five-and-a-half events each day.

Korslein says the goal is not just to offer entertainment, but to bring more visitors to the city of Minot. She says visitors stay overnight, eat in Minot’s restaurants, fill up with gas and go shopping.
