LYONS, Colo. (AP) - Two young brothers who died after falling into a fast-moving river in Colorado on Mother’s Day have been identified.

The Larimer County coroner said Monday that 7-year-old Daniel Foreman and 10-year-old Paul Foreman of Lyons drowned in the Little Thompson River on Sunday afternoon. Their deaths were ruled accidental.

Emergency responders rushed to the river near Pinewood Springs. The water was cold from melting snow, and the sheriff’s office said the boys were unresponsive when they were pulled from the water.

The boys were with other children when they fell in, The Denver Post reported (https://tinyurl.com/hksgtno).

The boys’ father went into the river to try to save them, neighbor Lisa Phillips said.

The rock-lined river is a popular swimming spot, but signs warn people to enter at their own risk.
