LOCUST FORK, Ala. (AP) - Authorities have identified two girls who drowned while swimming in Locust Fork River in north Alabama.

Blount County Coroner John Mark Vaughn tells local media that 12-year-old Jesse Lynn Harmon and 14-year-old Diana Marie Harmon died Saturday afternoon. The sisters disappeared while swimming in a popular spot near Deans Ferry Road.

Blount County Sheriff’s Operations Officer Tim Kent says the girls’ father was with them. Two adults who were in the same area tried to save them, but were unsuccessful.

Vaughn says autopsies will be performed due to the age of the girls.

County Line Baptist Church has created a Go Fund Me account to pay for the sisters’ funeral costs.
